Aeration

Why Aeration?

One of the main reasons to aerate is to help with the compaction of the yard.  Over time the compacted soil prevents the circulation of air, nutrients, and water vital to the lawn’s health.  Lawn aeration is suggested once a year for most lawns. How often you should aerate is based on the type of grass and soil you have in your lawn.  People with compacted soil can check their grass runners and if the grass runners are sitting on top of the soil and not penetrating, this is a sign of compaction. Bare spots could also be a sign of compaction.

When to Aerate?

The best time to aerate and see the best results is during the grass growing season.  This way the grass can heal and fill in the yard. For the warm season grass that grows in our area it is best to aerate in April or in the Fall.

About our Aeration?

We use core aeration and it will remove a plug from your yard about 2-3 inches in depth.  This is far better than any aeration done by just poking holes into the ground.

We also have some extras to add on to your aeration for an even healthier outlook on your yard.

-Overseeding to help new grass grow and choke out the weeds.

-Fertilization to get the proper nutrients to the grass and help the new grass seed grow.

-Top dressing to help smooth the yard and to give the yard more nutrients.  The topdressing will filter into the holes opened by the core aeration helping speed the lawn’s recovery.
